A departure from the gallery’s contemporary hangings, Sheri’s work is reminiscent of the techniques used by the masters, but with a modern style and a unique story as an inspiration for each piece – the basis for the Exhibition title: Every Picture Tells A Story. The show runs January 13, 2008 through February 9th, at 946 Bloomfield Street, with an open-house reception January 13 from 2-7 pm. The artist will be on hand to personally discuss her paintings.
Painting since age 12, this accomplished artist has studied classical art in New York and in the villages of the old masters in Italy with Pascal Amblard, Sean Crosby, Pierre Finklestein and Nicola Vigini. Using acrylic paints, Sheri has developed a new technique that expands the creative horizons of the neo-classical artist.
Sheri's skills were honed at a young age, and her passion for bringing “soul and spirit” to canvas has evolved her into a teacher, artist and critic of the industry she loves. To preview Sheri as she talks about her painting see her video clip.
AngelsSeveral years ago, Sheri captured attention at the Art Expo at the Jacob Javits Center in New York, drawing critical acclaim for her work, and was subsequently nominated for the prestigious 2005 ARTV Award. She appeared on the Awards Show, which was nationally broadcast through an NBC affiliate. Cheech Marin hosted the show with Brandee Williams interviewing artists along the red carpet.
From this experience came "Painting with Sheri", a first of its kind, portrait painting TV show. The initial episodes of this show will be created around the BAMA gallery exhibition. Sheri is currently taping in conjunction with Jeff Marcus, President, and Alan Goldshar, Executive Producer of Sparkway Productions. "The public has seen landscape and still life painting shows made for TV, but never anything quite like what Sheri will be doing – each week Sheri will ‘immortalize’ a person of some renown who made a difference in peoples lives,” says Sparkways’ Marcus. “Drew Barrymore, Ellen DeGeneres and Joe Franklin are just a few of the portraits in progress.” The show, “Painting with Sheri”, debuts late Summer of 2008.
