Information Rights Management (IRM), has received the “Designed for EMC® Documentum®” accreditation, a mark of quality and value that customers can depend on in enterprise applications. The accreditation demonstrates that Epok Extension for Documentum IRM has successfully met a comprehensive set of criteria for solid design and quality integration. The Epok Extension for Documentum IRM extends Documentum IRM content permissions and access controls across administrative boundaries without the need to provision and manage accounts for remote users or replicate policy stores. The Epok Federated Access Manager provides a network-based distributed approach to authorization and access management. Leveraging existing identity management systems, it forms a trusted authorization layer between identity domains such that users in one domain can be authorized access to selected information or application resources in another. Remote users are granted IRM content permissions based on Epok group or community membership, rather than individual user identity. This technique allows content permissions to be granted to users not previously known to the IRM server without modification of server policies or roles. Entitlements and content permissions change dynamically as the user's role or function within the identity management system change. End users are presented with personalized discovery displays of federated resource entitlements and need only select a resource URL on the discovery page to obtain access and content permissions. “EMC’s position as the leader in enterprise content management is strengthened by the support of great partners such as Epok,” said Randy Ziegler, Director of Developer Programs at EMC Corporation. “Partners like Epok build solutions and applications on the Documentum platform because customers have demonstrated their trust in EMC Documentum to manage their most critical and strategic information. The accreditation program is another way EMC earns that trust while supporting innovative offerings like the Epok® Extension for Documentum IRM.”“As large numbers of commercial and government agencies look to share information resources and applications as a means of collaborating with trusted partners, IT departments are being squeezed by the increased need to provision external users while improving security and compliance,” said Nigel Simmons, Vice President, Product Management, Epok, Inc. “The Epok Extension for EMC Documentum IRM puts document and content protection back in the hands of the business user while increasing a company or agency’s security and compliance posture.”Epok received accreditation by joining the Designed for EMC program; a program designed to help ISVs, VSPs and SIs design, develop and go-to-market with successful offerings based on the EMC Documentum platform. As a member, Epok received specialized design consultation and guidance, along with access to dedicated content management technical resources. Partners can submit their offerings to be considered for the “Designed for EMC Documentum” accreditation – which if achieved, signifies to customers that the offering meets high standards for architectural compliance with Documentum practices and will provide a reliable integration with less uncertainty for joint customers.
